Intimate Autumn Wedding at Loch Monzievaird, Scotland
I first had the pleasure of meeting Hannah, Stephen, Stephen (yes there is two of them) and Albert for a family portrait shoot in Hinchingbrooke Park. A year later, when they asked me to be their wedding photographer, I was over the moon, and when they told me it was going to be in Scotland, I was even more excited.
I should probably mention that Hannah & Stephen were given special permission by the Loch Monzievaird chalet owners to get married in The Bothy - this is not a regular thing, and they only grated this one-off request because Hannah and her family have been visiting the Loch each year for over 30 years! It was also where Stephen proposed to Hannah, so it was just meant to be.
With most weddings, you expect to arrive to a small amount of chaos in the morning; hair and makeup running behind schedule, groomsmen not fitting in their suits after too many BBQ’s this summer; kids running riot; sound familiar to anyone? Thankfully, this wasn’t the case at all with Hannah & Stephen. The boys and men started the day off with a casual stroll around the lake while the ladies got ready. Within no-time everyone was suited and booted (literally) and we were off to The Bothy!
Hannah & Stephen were keen for some photos around the Loch and ruined castle. Whilst the idea of a beautiful bride trudging along muddy autumn paths might strike fear into the hearts of many photographers, Hannah had reassured me that she was all-in and even packed a pair of wellies specially!
The evening reception was full of laughter, delicious food and drink and a tear-jerking speech from Hannah’s Dad.
It was an honour and a privilege to be asked to capture such an intimate and unique wedding! Hannah had these kind words to share with me after receiving their photos:
